This interactive applet provides students with an opportunity to extend their reasoning skills from the usual two-dimensional tic-tac-toe game to a three-dimensional version. A 3x3x3 cube instead of the usual 3x3 square, and the students play against the computer. In addition to the reasoning skills, the game helps develop the student’s spatial sense. Visualizing the possible wins may be difficult for some students; thus, it may be helpful if sometime during the lesson the class discusses and compares possible winning combinations. This could also be used as an independent exploration.
