Isometric Drawing Tool
Instructions

This isometric drawing applet is a prototype. Please send us suggestions for enhancements.

This applet allows you to draw on isometric dot paper. With this interactive geometry applet students can explore polyhedra using different representations and perspectives for three dimensional block figures. In addition, students can examine area and volume concepts for block figures within this context.

Start by clicking on the cube to the left. Then place the cube on the grid where you would like it. Move the mouse slightly and another cube will be ready for placement.

See the directions below for helpful hints.

Directions:

A HELPFUL HINT: Try to draw from the back to front and from bottom to top.

Click on the VIEW button to see (a) Front-Right-Top views, (b) a mat plan, or (c) a 3D view which can be rotated.

Click on the ERASER button twice to erase all objects drawn.

Use the BRING-TO-FRONT or the SEND-TO-BACK buttons to change the order in which the cubes are drawn. You may have to use these buttons more than once on an object to get a cube in exactly the right spot.
