Overview of Areas

One of the most important measurements in geometry is the measurement of area. In these applets, you will see interactively how to find the area of some common shapes.

The areas of the three shapes shown here are all related to each other. You can find the area of a triangle using the area of a parallelogram, which in turn can be found using the area of a rectangle. Click on the three items below to explore these relationships.
