Illuminations: Frieze Patterns

Frieze Patterns

Students can experiment with the seven classes of Frieze patterns with this activity. They can explore the transformations that constitute each of the seven categories.

Instructions

With each class of frieze pattern, students can drag any red vertex of the original shape to create a different shape. Students can also drag the point S along the bottom of each transformation to change the distance of the translation.
